PDF

I needed a quick release shackle to allow my students egg droppers to drop easily from a beam hanging from the ceiling.

The latch can print with no supports or brim.

The main body needs to be printed with supports everywhere (would block the supports in the tube through the body)

The pin is best printed in the orientation it is in currently as printed vertical, it can break apart along the layer lines.

If you find the pin too weak, replace with a piece of M6 threaded rod roughly 70mm in length, with a nut on it to hold the spring in.

Construction -

  1. Remove all supports
  2. Bolt the two main pieces together
  3. Place the spring on the pin
  4. Place the pin and spring inside the main body and use the split ring to keep it in place
  5. Pull the pin out as you close the latch
  6. Pulling the pin via the split ring releases the latch

You will also need

Optional - if pin is too weak.

  • M6 threaded rod
  • M6 nut
