A Panopticon is prison where a guard can see every cell and inmate but the inmates can't see into the tower.

A Reverse Panopticon is where the inamets can see everything that the guard is doing.

There are many LED sing,  not many are 360 degree, even less are Open Source.

The motivation behind this project is to have a practical way to broadcast messages to a large crowd all around yourself.

Think big, think the EMF Camp.

The hardware is simple, the structure is 3D printed, divided in 3 slices, each slice has :

  • Top Arch
  • Bottom Arch
  • Back Column
  • Front Column
  • Left and Right Colum (optional)

I made a lavish use of brass insert and M3 screws.

The 3 slices can connect them with screws and inserts, you should have something like this:

The top and bottom lids are laser cut.

You can have a look at the Fusion 360 model here

Use double sided tape to stick 1 32x8 ws2812B to each slice.

The structure it's about 30cm in diameter.

You will need a beefy 5v PSU (I used a 10A one)

The software is based on my fork of Pixelix, adapted to drive the 768 LEDs, running on the ESP32.
