Description

PDF

This is my 3nd iteration of a smart lock which is using a stepper motor that allows the user to turn the key manually. This is very useful if the lock supports anti-lockout which enables someone from the outside still use his key manually.

It’s designed to be used for European Cylinders.

Hardware

These are the components that I used:

  • ESP32s
  • Nema 17 Stepper Motor
  • TMC2208 Stepper Motor Driver
  • 12V - 2A DC Power supply
  • 12V to USB step down converter for powering ESP
  • R503 Fingerprint Sensor

Configuration

I am using ESPHome to control the motor because it can easily integrate with Home Assistant and supports all features I need out of the box. Be sure to install the latest version after 2022.2.0 release which supports locks.

The yaml file for ESPHome is attached on the files, but the fingerprint is still a work in progress, so it's not on the yaml file.
