So, what is a recursive cat toy, you might be asking? Think of the movie Inception, except of having a dream inside a dream inside a dream, you have a ball inside a ball inside a ball inside a ball inside a ball.
There are two files, one for the smallest ball, and one for all the other balls. You'll resize three of the four larger balls in your slicer. Each inner ball is 60% of the size of the ball that contains it.
There are a total of 5 balls, although you may want to print only the four smaller ones. (Some cats don't care for toys that are too big.) Print the balls in order by size, starting with the smallest one. Add a color change command to each of the four larger balls at 60% of the ball's height. When the printer pauses for the filament change, drop in the previously printed ball. Then continue printing with the same filament as before. This eliminates the need to glue any pieces together.

Filament: Generic PLA Various
Notes:
I used a 0.10 mm layer height for the two smallest balls, 0.15 mm for the middle ball, and 0.20 mm for the two largest balls. I increased the retraction length from the default 3.2 mm to 4.0 mm to help with the stringing. I was using cheap filament, so I still had some strings to clean up when it was done.
I used a brim for bed adhesion.
