  • Update 2024-12-29
    • Add F3D file, so you can change it to whatever you need.
  • Update 2023-01-16
    • Added another version of the lid with a slightly smaller hole for the heatset.
      • Use the 4.6mm heatset lid for the aliexpress 3x5x4 heat sets.
      • use the 5.2mm heatset lid for mcmaster or any larger heat sets.
    • Added a version with a small 2.7mm hole that you might be able to use without a heatset.
      • Note, I haven't tested this.  I just realize that not everyone wants to deal with heatsets.  It will probably be difficult to screw in the lid.

This is a shorter hopper for the Ceado e37s Espresso Grinder.

  • Even the short hopper that comes with this grinder is quite tall and makes adding beans to the hopper annoying if you have your grinder underneath cabinets.
  • I also find it annoying to have to remove the hopper lid while filling beans. So, the design of this is inspired by the little salt containers that have a swing out lid and a magnet closure. The lid of this hopper swings out easily with one hand, then pops back in place and is held shut with magnets.
  • The hopper will hold probably half of a standard bag of beans if you fill it all the way up.  I generally only keep 40g of beans in the hopper, which barely fills the bottom of the hopper.

BOM:

  • *Note, if you have other magnet or heatset sizes, just let me know.  I can change the sizes very easily.
  • (2) 6mm round diameter by 1.85 mm tall magnets (mine were sold as 6mm x 2mm magnets although the height is slightly lower in reality)
  • (1) m3x5x4 or m3x5x6 heatset. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000232858343.html)
  • (1) m3x8 socket head cap screw.
  • Thread lock compound
  • Ball end Allen wrenches (there is a pretty tough angle to overcome when tightening the SHCS)

Instructions:

  • Glue in the magnets. 1 in the lid and one in the funnel. Make sure they are oriented so they will attract each other!
  • Melt the heatset into the lid with a soldering Iron.
  • Insert the the m3x8 upwards in the funnel. Apply some threadlock compound to the thread, then attach the lid and tighten so the lid can still swing.
  • Enjoy!
  • I printed this in ABS with the fat side of the funnel down and the bottom of the lid down. The top of my lid was done with hilbert curve (to get the cool effect). I also acetone smoothed the inside of the funnel to keep little grounds from collecting and making it easier to clean.
