Description
This head of a faun is surrounded by a crown of ivy, visible on all sides. Fauns are half men, half goat creatures, often accompanying Bacchus, god of wine, theatre and pleasure. The leaves and corymbs (flower clusters), typical in depictions of Bacchus's retinue and of woodland divinities, are carefully rendered. Fauns are half men, half goat creatures, often accompanying Bacchus, god of wine, theatre and pleasure.
