In most cases, you'd save yourself the effort and just buy a case similar to this. In some very specific cases, you might need something sized to fit a particular piece of equipment, which is exactly why this was designed.
The case is designed to have a silicone seal inserted around the rim to make it water tight. The pins for the hinges and latches can all be printed, or substituted for 6mm bolts.
The case is rather large and wont fit on most average printers, but, it scales down well and I have even printed it half size (I would recommend using steel screws as hinge pins if shrinking the case this much).
This was printed in PLA on a Printrbot Metal Plus with a 0.6mm nozzle at a 0.2mm layer height.
All the parts took about 36 hours to print and used almost an entire 1kg spool with a 50% cubic infill.
