How I Designed This:

The mount is a remix of JosefE's model on Thingiverse.

For the mount:

1. Opened JosefE's mount in freeCad, then exported it as a .step file.
2.  Opened the .step file in Alibre to do the editing. Unfortunately I don't know freeCAD that well.

For the base, I created it in Alibre.

Custom Section

This is version 2 of the mount. There a few important changes: The base is now larger and closed so the mount with the Etrex attached will float. The retaining clip is now part of the mount rather than the base. There are now though-holes in the base to accommodate bungees more easily.

JosefE's mount is awesome - it fits the outline of the Etrex like a glove. I lowered the sides so that the Etrex touches the bottom. I added a lip to retain the top of the Etrex and a latch at the bottom. I also added drain holes at the bottom.

Print with the mating surfaces of the two parts on the bed.
