Update September 14, 2022

Version 2.4 released. It uses the normal low profile fan duct for the rear blower fan and a new high flow duct at front, it looks a little different than the earlier version you see here, I'll update the pics soon. Version 2.4 offers a bit more clearance to the bed than 2.3.

About

This is an optional dual 5015 fan mod for Icarus 1.x and Icarus 2. The front fan duct uses the Icarus front mount and one screw from below the carriage while the rear duct uses the normal mounting screws. You can secure the peg for the front dovetail mount if you like, it is probably not needed though. 

What to print

Print the four parts in the direction I have set them. Supports are generally not needed as these were designed to be printed without supports.

How to wire

Solder your fans together in a parallel configuration so both fans get the proper 24 V. I find it easiest to solder the two red wires from both fans into one red wire (so they are spliced) and use that single red wire to crimp on an JST-XH terminal. Do the same for the negative (black) wires. Then click into a JST-XH connector and plug it in on the PCB.

How to use

With two fans the cooling potential is obviously much higher and you could run the fans on lower % for the same cooling performance while being quieter. Or if you just want to crank up the cooling to max for high speed PLA prints for example.:) It utilizes the front mount as there is not enough space for two fans in the rear. So one fan in rear and one in front, two outlets on each for even distribution.

You need to gradually step up the fan speed and it's best if you use a silicone sock to keep the temps a little more stable. You might not be able to use 100% fan speed since it's so powerful.
