I don't like pulling the power lead out of my power adaptor to switch off the printer, and also wanted an emergency stop switch on the front of the machine, so created this model in 123D Design to accommodate said switch..

The panel is designed to fit in with the Printrbot aesthetics, and the switch cut-out is sized to fit a basic illuminated rocker switch (in my case Maplin part number N84JZ http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/rectangular-12v-rocker-switch-illuminated-red-n84jz).

I'll put a blog post up about the wiring in case anybody wants to do the same. Please go to http://www.soldersuckerblog.com/home/random-ramblings. Once I create the blog entry, I'll update this link direct to the post.

If you're wondering about the slot on the top...it's there to house the small Delrin spacer supplied with the Printrbot kit - I use it to smooth down tape on the build platform and was always losing it!

This is my first design on Thingiverse, I've downloaded so many great models I wanted to give back - I hope it's useful for others!

Instructions

I wanted to keep the design simple (I'm a sucker for over-engineering...) so the box is mounted by using a small amount of hot glue on the rear wings of the box. The bottom is left open to allow cables to pass underneath and into the machine.

Print face down with a 15% infill and use support material for the rear wings. I found that 'pillar' style support worked best for me.
