Description

PDF

This is a holder/cover for using a ZnSe lens with the thermal imager UTi690A from UNI-T.
It needs to be printed in a hard/stiff material like PLA.

This cover protects the ZnSe lens from both the front and back when not in use.

The ZnSe lens should be have a diameter of 20 mm and a thickness of 2 mm.
Focal length that I beleive works best is 50.8 mm but 38.1 mm also works OK.

With a 50.8 mm ZnSe lens, you can half the minimum focus distance to ~5 cm and gain a bit of extra magnification due to the lens itself, making for a much better image when working on small parts like PCB components.

I recorded a video to show how this ZnSe lens cover works, how to assemble it and what to keep in mind when printing it. (Apologize for my English language not being too good).

[REQUIRED HARDWARE]
1 pcs 20x2 mm ZnSe 50.8mm Lens (eBay and Amazon may also be good places to look)
1 pcs UNI-T UTi690A (UTi120S and UTi712s)

You can find my review of the UTi690A here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/thermal-imaging/uni-t-uti690a-review-(120x90)/

Recommend keeping layer height at 0.2 mm and print speed of 30 mm/s when printing, should take about 2 hours in total to print the three files.

Suggest to print the main body with support enabled (touching buildplate).
Suggest to print the slider/cover with support enabled (everywhere).
Suggest to print the circlip without support.

For those with a Vinyl cutter, I also uploaded the vinyl logo as a pdf that can be cut.

[HAZARD]
Please note that the ZnSe lens is toxic and you should wash your hands immediately after handling, or better yet wear vinyl gloves if you have them.
