I wanted to convert an old ATX PSU into a lab bench power supply.
Since none of the designs found fullfilled my needs I created my own design.

The features are:

  • 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and GND rails of PSU attached to banana plugs
  • Integrated buck-boost converter to also support other voltages
  • Two status leds
  • One additional switch to turn PSU on/off

Parts required:

  • 1 (old) ATX PSU
  • 1 buck-boost converter, I used this ARCELI Buck Boost Converter (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07MY399GQ - when using a different one the dimensions may differ)
  • 8 banana plugs (4 red ones, and 4 black ones)
  • 10 M3 nuts
  • 10 M3 screws (I used 8 mm)
  • 1 M3/M4 screw + nut to attach the front panel at the bottom. For this I drilled a hole in the printed part (front_plate.stl).
  • Screws to mount psu_cover.stl and fan grill should be already available from ATX PSU
  • Crimp connectors for wires (ring terminals to attach to banana plugs, ferrules for screw terminals)

P.S.: I attached fusion360/ step files in case you need to change some dimensions for your PSU you are using / want to use a different buck-boost converter / you want to improve the design etc ;)
