This is an articulating window stop for ComfortWorld windows. The original in my window broke, and it's necessary to allow the window to open partially without being openable from the outside. Unfortunately the company doesn't sell these directly, so I created one.

This part requires a bit of assembly, and some sort of spring in order for the articulation to work effectively. In my case, I used 0.254mm spring steel, cut to approximately 2.75mm wide. There is a small insert within the part for this spring steel to attach.

Assembly

The part is in three pieces:

  • insert: the main body of the part
  • stop: the articulating piece that contacts the sliding window
  • cap: a piece which fits in the bottom of the insert, to enclose the part You'll need to cut a piece of spring steel as described above. In my case, I just eyeballed the length (which was probably 80% the length of the insert).

You can print all three parts at once. To assemble:

    1. Push the stop into the bottom of the insert piece; there is a cutout in the insert to make the assembly easier. It will snap into the slider cutout, where it should rotate and slide back and forth.
    2. Insert the spring steel; this is a bit of a hassle. In my case, i put a slight downward bend at both ends so that it can more easily be inserted with tweezers; the bend on the end that is not inserted into the part will ensure it doesn't "stick" as the part articulates.
    3. Verify everything articulates as expected.
    4. Put a small amount of superglue where the spring steel meets the insert, to ensure it doesn't slip out of the insert.
    5. Superglue the cap into the bottom of the insert
