This little hanger was made for the plastic wastebasket in my car. The wastebasket came with velcro to hang it in the car, but the velcro wore out and stopped holding. I replaced the velcro wit new velcro but that wore out also, so I gave up on velcro.

This bracket comes in two versions, one with mounting hole (for a flat head #8-32 or M4 x 0.7 screw), or without holes for use with double-sided foam mounting tape. They can also be used in combination as I did for my wastebasket - one side with holes to screw to the wastebasket, the other side plain to stick onto the car.

The center-to-center distance between the two mounting holes is 2.5 inches (63.5mm).

I used the hanger as follows:

  • I screwed the part with pegs to the plastic wastebasket with #8-32 screws and nuts. Of course I had to drill holes for this in the side of the wastebasket (see photos)
  • I applied foam mounting tape to the back of the other part, and then put the two hanger parts together.
  • I positioned the wastebasket with hangers where I wanted it in my car and pressed it into place.
  • I could then separate the two halves of the hanger and further press the "sticky half" in place to make sure it was secure.
