Fanatec Formula Magnetic Shifter Mod (MagMod)

A magnetic shifter mod for the Fanatec Formula Wheels. Based on the clever model of SethBon with the following changes:

Added features

• Improved stiffness
• Switched the pockets for the magnets to the opposite sides. This keeps the magnets still in place if the glue fails or even without glue. This is perfect for testing different magnets for optimal feeling before fixing them with glue.

Magnets

Required Material

• 4 x neodymium magnets. (Disk, recommended 8mm diameter and 2 or 3 mm thickness)
• 4 x M3x10mm screws
• 4 x M3 washers

Installation

• Remove shifter paddles
• Use M3 screws from shifter paddles to install base part with magnets
• Position paddle part, which will be kept in place by the magnets
• Re-install the shifter paddles with the M3x100mm screws

Tuning

• Play around with magnet combinations to get the feeling you like
• Tip: Only remove one magnet and replace at a time. This prevents the other magnets from falling off.
• Tip: Magnets in the base part can easily removed if you have another stack of magnets or a stronger magnet.
• Tip: To change the magnets in the installed paddle part, use a screwdriver which is magnetic. It is quite easy to get them off and on.
